Environment Social Governance

For us, sustainability and efficient use of marine technology are at the heart of everything we do, and will contribute to making TECO 2030 a profitable company. We will also be open and transparent about the potential risks and negative aspects of our business operations and take the necessary steps to reduce such risks and impacts.

There is a growing demand for green marine technology in the industry and providing sustainable high-quality products to the market is the main goal for TECO 2030. Through innovative production technology and development, we preserve the quality of products that impact your vessel’s environmental impact.

Sustainability and protection of the environment is a key value for TECO 2030, and the foundation for comprehensive results. This influences not only how we do business, but also what business we do. EU Sustainable Development Goals

TECO 2030 is working towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and intends to be a key provider of marine technology that supports the green movement of the industry. Our technologies are developed today for tomorrow with the intention of saving lives and the environment.

Environment & Climate Impact

Sustainability
As a green marine technology provider, TECO 2030’s solutions will have a positive environmental impact. A change for the better.

Shipping accounts for 90% of global trade and roughly 2.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Global shipping volumes are expected to continue to grow. At the same time, we urgently need to reduce emissions and other environmental impact.

In order to achieve this, TECO 2030 believes we need two-step strategy. First, we will continually improve current technology to significantly reduce emissions from combustion engines.

We reduce the environmental impact through available technologies with direct impact on particulate emissions. The major reductions include sulphur dioxide, particulate matter, black carbon and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These particles aren’t only damaging our environment. They are also increasing the numbers of premature deaths each year. Today it is estimated that roughly 5 million people die annually.

The next step is introducing renewable energy and zero emissions, based on fuel cells powered by hydrogen. Hydrogen is the only zero emission technology appropriate for heavy-duty maritime applications, and will be TECO 2030’s main focus moving forward.

We care for our oceans and air quality. Life both above and under the waterline is of importance to us.

Working Environment

Sustainability
TECO 2030’s employees are most vital to the company’s operations and business success.

Attracting and retaining skilled workers while maintaining a safe and healthy working environment are key objectives of the company and our stakeholders. The company can directly impact the working environment through its policies and agreements, as well as indirectly through dialogue with employee representatives and unions.

Like in any production environment, the company and its employees are exposed to risk of incidents affecting employee safety and security. TECO 2030 also has the direct and indirect ability and responsibility to affect such risk through policies, processes and by maintaining a proactive approach to health and safety risks in the physical and psychological working environment. There are also opportunities in engaging employees, thereby helping to maintain a safe and effective working environment through safety culture.

TECO 2030 aims to have an inclusive and open working environment that encourages employees to share their opinions and ideas. The company opposes discrimination in any form, whether based on political views, membership in workers’ organizations, sexual orientation, disability and/or age. In addition to following the Working Environment Act, TECO 2030 also operates in accordance with the Gender Equality Act, which protects against discrimination based on gender, as well as the Anti-discrimination Act, which protects against discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, religion and the like.

TECO 2030’s company structure can be described as ‘egalitatian’ and employees are encouraged to actively contribute with their opinions regarding how to improve the working environment. The company has not established an official whistleblowing channel but conducts talks with all employees annually on their wellbeing and other work-related questions.

Occupational health and safety

Workers’ health and safety is vital to TECO 2030. The company aims to provide a safe, healthy and satisfactory workplace and has thus implemented an occupational health and safety management system which builds on the Norwegian Working Environment Act as well as regulations relating to systematic health, environmental and safety activities in enterprises.

One of the main objectives of the Working Environment Act is to ensure that the employees themselves participate in developing the design of their own working environment. Our main goal is zero accidents, loss or damage to people, material and the environment.

Injuries and work-related accidents, are registered at the site level. While the ambition of the company is to see zero accidents , it is of critical importance to maintain full overview of any incident or accident at any of TECO 2030’s sites, and in turn work on presentation and on ensuring a healthy and safe workplace.

It is important that incidents are prevented and that employees undergo regular health checks so that potential injuries are detected at the earliest possible stage. Consequently, all employees have access to an occupational health service scheme.

TECO 2030 has set the following goals for HSE and the working environment for the next 3 years

Establish and implement a Code of Ethics for employees which can be shared with external stakeholders.
Decrease and eliminate injuries and accidents during project work.
Responsibility of every employee to avoid serious incidents during work hours.
Managers are to lead by example and be held accountable for mistakes and accidents.
Reporting system for accidents and injuries during project work.
