HyEkoTank
Retrofit technology for shipsTo make the marine transport industry more eco-friendly
What is the HyEkoTank Project?
HyEkoTank project targets the development of a technology to retrofit a 2.4 MW fuel cell system and a swappable, 350 bar, 4000 kg hydrogen storage onto the Bitumen carrier tanker BitFlower and will by end of the project achieve system maturity of TRL 8. The technology will be suitable to retrofit a wide range of sea-going and inland waterway vessels
This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe Innovation Actions programme under grant agreement No. 101096981
HyEkoTank SOLUTIONS
01
Standardised and easy-to-integrate 40ft ISO container including a 2.4 MW fuel cell system, hydrogen fuel gas conditioning, air filtration systems, power converters, battery storage and automation system
02
Containerised, 350 bar, compressed hydrogen storage with 4000 kg capacity with type approval to perform hydrogen refuelling by swapping of containers using cranes
03
Feasibility assessment and a model to optimise the hydrogen supply chain to ports
04
Concept designs to standardise the technology to be easy to install in any ship independently on its operations
HyEkoTank Pilot case
Design, approval, installation, commissioning, and demonstration of the system on the Bitumen carrier Bitflower to achieve TRL 8 by developing a cost-effective and scalable solution for retrofitting large ships with MW-scale PEMFC power generators and hydrogen fuel storage
